Forget early starts. Forget office hours. Forget last call.

Independent venues are closing. Clubs are struggling. Bars are shutting. Gentrification is swallowing independent spaces whole.

Cities are built for early risers. Night owls are treated like outsiders. And “nightlife” has been reduced to alcohol and hangovers. We’re losing the best of our culture and the little places that make a city feel alive. Without action, they vanish.

Meanwhile, people want something new: culture at night that isn’t just about getting wasted (though that’s ok too). We either protect this culture now, or it’s gone.We are After Dark, the first global network for nighttime culture. Our job? To make sure after-hours life doesn’t disappear into history books or chain stores.

Society is rigged for early risers despite the fact that they only account for 15-25% of the population. Night owls? Estimates generally range from 15% to 30% of the population. That’s huge.

Night owls:

  • We are permanently jet-lagged.
  • We miss hotel breakfasts.
  • We miss daytime tickets.
  • We get called lazy.

The truth? We’re forced to live against our rhythm. And it’s killing us — literally.

Shorter lifespans. Stress. High blood pressure.

Here’s what no one says out loud: night owls are sharper. Smarter. More creative. We’re the ones who see things others miss. Our culture is richer, our brains wired for depth. After Dark exists to flip the script: from stigma to celebration.

After Dark is a love letter to the night, and the fight to save it. We believe night is where the magic happens: at midnight cafés, in late-night barbers, under city streetlamps. We’re building a movement to protect and celebrate the culture that wakes up when everyone else goes to sleep.

We exist to support:

  • Night owls tired of being told to wake up early.
  • Independent venues that keep culture alive.
  • Travellers looking for authenticity, not chain hotels.
  • Cities that want safety and vibrancy, not Starbucks and curfews.

And for everyone who knows the best stories start after midnight.

We believe that vibrant cities full of independent venues and night culture are inextricably linked, which is why After Dark is a home for the...

  • The night owls.
  • The midnight wanderers.
  • The sunrise watchers.
  • The tiny cafés, the family bars, the basement gigs.

We are unapologetically nocturnal.

We want to...

  • Give independent venues the power they deserve.
  • Archive the stories of after-dark culture before they disappear.
  • Build a support network that funds itself through membership.
  • Work with cities to stop treating the night like an afterthought.
  • Preserve & amplify arts  & culture
  • Support and Sustain independent and local venues for their communities
  • Offer healthier lifestyles for night owls
  • Help people make more responsible tourism choices
  • Connecting night owls through local experiences

Every venue has a story. The family who’ve run that café for 50 years. The artists who launched their careers in a basement bar. The people who found community at 2am. We’re archiving these voices before they vanish.

When venues unite, they survive. We’ve seen it with club culture. But everywhere else? Silence.

After Dark will be the first global network for all independent nighttime spaces.

Call it a union. Call it a lifeline. Either way, it’s overdue.
